Pregnancy and Post-Natal Massage
Whether you’re navigating the physical shifts of pregnancy or recovering after childbirth, I offer gentle and targeted support tailored to your body’s changing needs.
Using a range of soft-tissue techniques, I fold deep relaxation and evidence-based care into a treatment that meets you and your body exactly where you are.
Pregnancy Massage (13+ Weeks)
Pregnancy brings extraordinary changes, but it can also bring physical discomfort and sensory overload. Taking time out from the demands of daily life in London to relax and tune into your body isn’t just a treat – it actively supports your well-being and the healthy development of your baby. Lowering stress and connecting with your breath can even help prepare your body for labour.
How massage helps during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy:
- Alleviates discomfort caused by physical changes of pregnancy – such as back, leg and joint pain
- Reduces muscular tension and headaches, which can increase during pregnancy
- Can prevent compression of the sciatic nerve, which is particularly common in later pregnancy
- Improves the circulation and oxygenation of soft tissues, aiding the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the foetus
- Supports a sluggish digestive system, which can help to prevent constipation and piles
- May help to prevent the formation of varicose veins
- Supports lymphatic drainage to reduce swelling (also known as oedema)
- Aids with relaxation and better sleep
- Reduces anxiety and stress by decreasing cortisol; and increasing feel-good hormones such as serotonin and dopamine (source: Journal of psychosomatic obstetrics and gynaecology)
- Promotes overall wellbeing for both the parent and developing baby
Postnatal Massage & Recovery
The postpartum period is a huge life event and can bring a unique mix of joy, exhaustion, physical recovery, and emotional adjustment. My postnatal massage offers a gentle and restorative pause to help you reconnect with yourself while addressing the new physical demands of early parenthood: from feeding posture to carrying your little one.
How it supports your recovery:
- Ease muscle tension particularly in the neck, shoulders, back, and hips
- Improve circulation
- Reduce swelling
- Aid the body’s natural healing process
- Reduce stress
- Ease symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety
- Improve sleep quality
- Promote a deeper sense of overall well-being
When can I come for a post-natal massage?
Please check in with your healthcare provider before booking. For uncomplicated deliveries and C-sections, gentle adaptations can allow us to work together early on. If you experienced complications then we will wait until after your 6-week health check-up.
What to expect from a Pregnancy or Post-Natal Massage treatment?
Before your session, I will send you a short form so I can understand your pregnancy stage, birth recovery, or specific areas of discomfort before you walk through the door. When you arrive at my London treatment space, we’ll take time to talk about how you’re feeling in your body and mind right now.
As a neurodiversity-affirming practitioner, I adjust the room to match your sensory preferences. From lighting, music and temperature, everything is tailored so you can sink into total comfort.
Depending on your stage of pregnancy or recovery, I will set you up with custom bolstering, pillows, and side-lying positioning so you are fully supported and weightless. I’ll step out while you get cosy under as many soft sheets and blankets as you’d like.
Whether you opt for 60 or 90 minutes, your session is a dedicated sanctuary for you to rest, recover, and feel truly looked after.
Pregnancy & Post-Natal Massage Therapy is available at both of my London locations – Crouch End (North London) and Hackney (East London).
